For a 5-lug hub, measure from the center of one stud to the far outer edge of the stud skipping one position. A reading of approximately 4.5" indicates a 5 on 4.5" pattern, while a 5" reading indicates a 5 on 5" pattern. You can also verify this by checking your axle tag or product specs
Brake requirements vary by trailer GVWR and the laws where the trailer is registered and operated. Some jurisdictions require brakes on both axles of a tandem, while others have different requirements. Check your local regulations and the trailer manufacturer's specifications before choosing a brake setup
For a trailer requiring a 15K-rated coupler, use a 2-5/16" coupler rated for at least 15,000 lbs. The 2-5/16" measurement refers to the ball size, while the coupler's capacity must meet or exceed the trailer's required capacity.
